I get to be part of the leadership team of an incredible community that works everyday to use our experiences to help others. Our community takes all of our collective experience, either with facing mental health challenges, supporting others, or managing organizations, and we help others trying to do same. We believe that most of us, and most of our organizations, are just trying to be better. We work to make this possible by treating everyone we encounter with dignity, respect, and universal high regard, and helping in whatever way we can. The result is that:-We directly serve almost a thousand people per year, mostly in Texas, with their mental health -We train and support hundreds of people per year who dedicate their lives to helping others, primarily in the mental health field-We support dozens of organizations that perform human-service work, primarily in the mental health space. We've learned, through trial and tribulation, how to grow and operate a very nimble non-profit with an incredible culture that can have a high-impact with very little overhead. We help other nonprofits that are trying to do the same.

I'm responsible for the operations of a small non-profit that serves 700+ individuals with a history of mental illness each year. Our organization follows the clubhouse mental health recovery model which helps people live fuller lives by providing access to meaningful volunteer opportunities and supportive relationships. Our services provide something often missing from other aspects of their continuum of care: consistent day-to-day opportunities to be in a no-cost, healthy, stable, and positive environment. Our programs achieve positive outcomes in multiple ways, including:- 93% of our members reporting that their mental health has improved- 91% of our members reporting progress towards their goals- 86% of our members reporting increased quality of life- 82% of our members reporting reduced need for psychiatric hospitalizations- 84% lower recidivism rate for our members, compared to others with mental illnessI primarily support our mission by:- Recruiting, vetting, hiring, training, and mentoring staff- Designing new programs and securing funding, especially from government funding sources- Refining existing programs to increase their efficacy- Designing and building technical resources for our team
