Research and hire the most appropriately qualified and influential lobbyists and PR consultants for advocacy efforts in Congress, state legislatures, and federal and state executive branch agencies.  Created strategies and managed every aspect of advocacy campaigns. Directed coalitions of groups and organized the lobbying effort that included volunteer meetings, fly-ins, grassroots, and direct lobbying. Federal and selected state level PR efforts included digital ad campaigns, grasstops efforts, earned media and other tactics appropriate to the circumstances. Directed advocacy effort in Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to acquire acceptance for an ARRT health care profession. Acquired CMS acceptance for the profession to perform medical imaging under direct physician supervision (physician in the building or campus). Gained acceptance for the profession at the Veterans Health Administration, allowing providers to work in over 1300 VA medical centers. Passed exam-subversion legislation in Minnesota. The bill prohibits those who take a certification or licensure exam from disclosing any part of the exam by any means, including memorization, for any purpose. All ARRT examinees agree to abide by this Minnesota statute. Other efforts were successful in achieving acceptance with Medicare Administrative Contractors, hospital HR departments, and accrediting organizations.

Monitored governmental actions and coordinated lobbying at the federal government and in the 50 states to acquire acceptance of the organization. Managed the organization’s political action committees which included raising funds and making contributions to members of Congress and state legislatures. Created effective strategy appropriate for small organizations and significantly increased AAPS’s acceptance with state medical boards and departments of health.
