a). To provide a link between those on board and Top Management.b) To ensure communication and implementation of the company policy on health, Safety environmental protection;c) Evaluation and review of the effectiveness of the SMM;d) Reporting and analysis of non-conformities, accidents and hazardous occurrences;e) Organizing and monitoring of internal audits; f) Making appropriate revisions to the Safety Management System;g) Ensuring that adequate resources and shore-based support are provided;h) Liaise with external parties on matters concerning establishment, approval and timely auditing of the Safety Management System to comply with applicable code, standard or industry guidelines;i) To investigate the reported Non-Conformances with the Masters and Fleet Technical Superintendents and to confirm appropriate corrective actions are taken and communicate to all concerned;j) To monitor the Safety and pollution prevention aspects of the ships operations and bring to the attention of the President Director any situation adversely impacting the SMM;k) To give support to the Master in proper implementation and maintenance of the SMM;l) To deal with the media or other outside parties for major emergency matters, when necessary.
