Eric joined Kovitz in 2018, as part of the Kovitz acquisition of AFAM Capital. He previously served as President of AFAM Capital, where he was responsible for leading strategic initiatives across the firm’s internal operations, information technology, marketing, and business development teams. He began his career at AFAM in 2006, serving in various key roles across the organization. Eric earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Bemidji State University. He is licensed with FINRA under series 7 and 65.

Mr. Eric Hare has been with AFAM Capital since 2006 and over the years he has held several key roles in the organization. Eric started his tenure with the firm working as a member of the investment team. Subsequently, he moved to the business side and worked his way up to Chief Operating Officer. He has played an important part in the advancements and developments of our company. For example, he created the current work-flow processes that serve as the basic structure for our entire firm; built the marketing, operations, and technology groups; collaborated in launching new products such as mutual funds and SMAs; managed and grew the private client division; and has been instrumental in expanding the reach of The Prudent Speculator, our investment newsletter that has been around since 1977. Eric has a holistic view of the investment management business which, together with his proven versatility, has allowed him to have a significant impact as the President of AFAM Capital. As our organization continues to evolve, Eric will add and develop new talent, and strengthen our relations with strategic partners, clients, and vendors. In addition, it is AFAM’s desire to maintain our involvement with the community and Eric leads the company’s philanthropic efforts. Currently, he oversees the company’s donations program and is part of the Big Brother & Big Sisters of Central Texas.

Eric Hare serves as the firm's Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the Private Client Division. He began at AFAM Capital in 2006 as a Research Intern and joined the firm full-time in 2007. Eric has held a number of positions, including Research Analyst, Director of Operations and Vice President of Operations. As COO, Eric currently leads the team responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the firm. As General Manager, Eric is responsible for managing the Private Client Division as well as Al Frank product lines. Eric brings expertise in a variety of areas, including vendor, contract, account and project management; data reporting, analyzing and tracking; information technology solutions; and trading execution and operations. Eric graduated from Bemidji State University with a BA in Political Science and holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses.
