It is no secret that many medium to large mortgage companies have extremely high overhead. They have many levels of management, considerable infrastructure and high employee to loan funding ratios. They suffer from excessive real estate, compliance and control costs. In addition, banks and other publicly traded companies have to return high levels of returns to their shareholders. With my twenty plus years of experience I have always felt I could do things differently under alternative circumstances. With lower overhead and less infrastructure I could do it faster, more cost effective and with a broader more aggressive product mix. This may sound like clichés but I try to live every day like it was my last.
