Eric Hutchison is the owner of Hutchison Consulting and works to make a measurable difference in how organizations assess, select, and develop employees while fostering a high-performance environment. Eric holds an MBA, an MS and a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP), Society of Consulting Psychologists (SCP), Society for Police and Criminal Psychology (SPCP), and the International Personnel Assessment Council (IPAC). As a part-time faculty member at Antioch University, Franklin University, Otterbein University, and Park University, he teaches, designs courses, and advises students on their research. Eric has assisted with the design, development, and administration of public safety job analysis, examinations (entry-level and promotional), and the training of community members who participate as community evaluators in a police and fire selection process. Eric has presented his research on community participation in police officer selection at two international conferences (SPCP '19 and SIOP '20) and is currently conducting a study on the impact of the involvement in a community evaluator program on participants (community evaluators, police and fire personnel, and Civil Service Commission employees). The findings of this current study will inform practical recommendations for police and fire agencies, city governments, policymakers, and directions for future research.
