From Bagging Groceries to Financial Leadership…Growing up on a ranch in South Texas, my history in retail began as an escape from the Texas summer heat, bagging groceries. That summer job became a way to pay for college and that college job grew into a career.Before converting to corporate finance, I developed my customer-centric perspective in over 10 different roles in various store operations functions ranging from selling imported cheeses to managing the front-end customer service experience before ultimately being invited into HEB's retail leadership program where I trained to become a top store leader.Within FP&A I have held numerous roles with increasing levels of responsibility in the last 12 years:• Regional Financial Analyst supporting South Texas store operations• Sr. Financial Analyst supporting Drugstore, GM, Floral, Meat, Deli, & Restaurant procurement and merchant teams • Financial Manager supporting Central Market Division operations and merchant teamsIn these roles I owned the following:• Managing and streamlining strategic short and long term planning• Reporting, forecasting, and the application of a multitude of analytical tools across the entire P&L for my businesses both routine and ad-hoc in nature• Designing, implementing, and maintaining financial models for new processes, investments, and other wide-ranging opportunities working with cross functional teams across the organization• Training, coaching, and developing the financial skills of team members across P&A, Operations, Procurement, & MerchandisingThough I have learned a lot in the various roles I have held since I started bagging groceries over 13 years ago, the more I learn the more energized I become.
