At Cheiron, I have expanded on my experience with small employee benefit consulting over to larger pension and welfare systems. The clients I work on include Single Employer, Taft-Hartley, and Public Sector funds with records ranging from as small as 100 to as large as 20,000 participants. My responsibilities at Cheiron include analyzing actuarial liabilities, performing valuations, and using VBA coding to improve and automate our models. The consulting work at Cheiron enables me to direct my analytical background with effective communication to my colleagues and our clients.

I joined SMI after graduating from UC San Diego and completely immersed myself in the Defined Benefit Pension Plan arena. From cost calculations to actuarial valuations and Non-Discrimination testing, my skills are constantly improving. Coming from a small business servicing small businesses, I spend time on every DB plan in the San Diego office, approximately 80 of which I consult and perform administration for directly.My time spent on actuarial analysis quickly translated over to success in consulting. With direct knowledge of benefit calculations, I have been able to maintain successful relationships with my clients. Not only have I been able to provide annual administrative services, but I have also been able to forecast future funding targets and assist in pension planning.
