Graduate Research Assistant
• Used Gpredict to track down satellites using an 8’ DH Satellite Dish with a 2.426 GHz feed and 2 YAGI antennas to read signals from 420-450MHz • Developed software in python to change the direction of the antenna using coordinates coming from Gpredict to track down satellites when the cover range is directly over the ground station • Used GNU Radio to demodulate AM/FM radio signals received from tracked satellites • Established parameters for the ground station using datasheets that will later be used for CubeSats developed in other projects • Researched 5G Time Sensitive Networking to replace a wired connection from the Oxy-Coal Combustor to the data access control system • Determined the frequency band that the whole network will be running in including the bandwidth • Tested and recorded noise/machine data using a USRP to be implemented in a software which emulates networks and have a more accurate testbench environment • Investigated several 5G TSN implementations to determine the best way to approach the projects objective
