Implements the research-based PATHS intervention and prevention curriculum (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) to build healthy problem-solving and life skills necessary throughout students’ lives. Groups integrate children identified by the Monroe County Department of Human Services to be at high risk for exposure to violence with children at lower risk, providing a range of social skill levels and positive behavior role models. Students practice healthier choices in this safe environment and are supported by counselors as they generalize these newly learned behaviors at home, in school, and within the community.
