As a Rating Veterans Service Representative (RVSR) my duties consist of: Analyzing claims to Determine service-connected percentages for disabilities deemed related to service; Resolving legal questions; Assuring proper application of the rating schedule and other applicable instructions--accepting full accountablity for proper analysis, appropriate development, and final rating determinations; Providing consultative advice and assistance to Veteran Service Representatives; Participation in meetings and training sessions; lending expertise in developing veterans service representatives' skills as they relate to evidence gathering for rating decisions; Acting as an advocate for veterans and their beneficiaries in their dealings with other VA elements and organizations that affect their claims.

Functioning as an advocate for veterans and their beneficiaries—helping claimants deal with other VA elements and organizations that affect their claims. Interpreting veterans’ case law; state laws pertaining to the adjudication process; existing statutes, procedures, precedents, and rulings. Conducting reviews of military service records and other evidence to establish claims. Analyzing, developing, and requesting required evidence; and making determinations as to eligibility for the type of benefit sought. Reviewing cases to ensure all issues are addressed. Preparing correspondence to members of Congress and special interest groups on case assignments and other “controlled” correspondence.

Functioned as a collaborative member of a team—working with veterans in the Domiciliary whose substance use and other issues interfered with their ability to function. Specifically, I worked to address the issues that hindered residential & employment stability.‏ I provided other services as well: intake assessments; discharge planning; psychosocial assessments; goal-orientated treatment planning using relevant psychosocial assessment information; individual counseling; case management; facilitated weekly life skills, relapse prevention, and recovery education groups; and participated in case conferences & clinical supervision
