I have 7 years experience in drawing blood. I draw blood of all ages using straight needles, butterflies and syringes. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient care. I have performed many type and screens and blood cultures. I have experience in performing newborn screens on newborn babies. I always make sure I label all specimens correctly and pack them up in the correct temperature so that they go to the correct location. I have excellent bed side manner. I always ensure that I have the correct patient before drawing blood by having the patients spell their full name and confirm their date of birth. I centrifudge specimens; pipette serum, plasma and urine into vials; label tubes; data entry; pull and input orders into Epic; log STATS; check supplies for expiration dates; logged the temperatures of the freezer, fridge and room; stock supplies; experience with Epic, Cerner, Lexicomp, Quest Quantum 360; timed glucose tests; greeting patients, replacing sharps containers; explaining urine and stool collections; explaining ABN forms; performing breath teks, talking to patients during blood draws to direct their attention away from the blood draw, follow HIPPA.I have completed a Medical Assisting program. I have experience with vitals, injections, charting a patients medical history and EKG. In the passed I completed a CNA program as well. I have worked as a caregiver where I gave medication, feed through feeding tubes, dialed up insulin pens, bathed and groomed.
