As Tenders & Contracts Manager I am responsible for all matters related to the department. Focusing in to gather, collate and analyse information about the market, customers, projects and internal processes in close cooperation with other departments within Van Oord (e.g. Engineering & Estimating and Legal Departments) and external parties (clients, government bodies, external advisors, etc.) in order to support and advise the Area Manager in the tracing, preparing, starting up, executing and completing (potential) projects.Also part of my responsibility is to review proposed terms and conditions contained in customer invitations to tender, recommending changes, preparing exceptions/qualifications, and participating in subsequent contract negotiations.Among the main tasks, stand out, the right legal assessment, articulate problems and devise possible alternative solutions. Evaluate the feasibility of contracts and identify and reduce risks. Be familiar with the organisation's policy guidelines, collaborate with other staff departments and have built up an own internal network. Be a fully-fledged contact person for the management, who wins through by successfully "selling" the solutions both internally and externally, taking account of the different interests involved. And coordinate/supervise the external law firms.
