About Eric Kaufman
Hi, I'm Eric. I am a writer and editor with creative, marketing, instructional design, and software technical writing experience that spans more than ten years. My education includes a BA in literature and an MA in professional writing. Since 2013 I worked with Accenture as an instructional designer in a number of capacities and on a variety of project types, including eBooks, instructor-led training, and interactive web-based training. Given my background, I was relied upon heavily to write and edit copy of the highest quality. I maintained style standards using client-specific and conventional style guides, refined language to impart clarity and its intended meaning, ensured correct grammatical structure, and caught unintended mistakes. My role involved conceptual design, research, SME collaboration, and production. Keeping an empathetic mind to client product needs was essential, as well as employing learning principals and methodologies, such as durable learning, design thinking, and Bloom’s taxonomy. Previous experience also includes software technical writing to generate online help user manuals and single sign-on setup instructions, work in IT with Salesforce in San Francisco, teaching English as a foreign language in Taipei, and working as a marketing coordinator for a small internet start-up.I’m comfortable using writing and design tools, and am always looking for opportunities to learn about the latest innovations. I’m particularly fond of creating microcopy. I love the challenge of reducing language to its clearest, most essential and accurate form, while keeping in mind all possible interpretations the user might have, based on where they are coming from and where they are going.
