Business Systems Manager

Broomfield, Co

Manage development, implementation, training, and rollout of labor and inventory systems. Through partnering with key business heads in the operations, training, finance, IT, HR, and legal departments we made vital improvements that enhanced managerial knowledge and reduce back-of-house (BOH) management needs. The main premise of this position is to allow improvements to flow through to better-trained managers and staff. Through this, we can ensure the focus is on the customer experience and our employees. Realizations in these areas improve our restaurant performance and brand value. My primary focus has been on rolling out a labor suite that focuses on forecasting, employee scheduling, and payroll. This includes integrating all people data from our HR systems to the BOH and POS systems. Testing the software in multiple restaurant markets, and working with the vendor for modifications and developments. Ensuring all appropriate data points are replicated into our data warehouse, and working closely with our BI team to develop reporting that allows the field to operate to the best ability. Additionally, a level of reporting was required for our field leaders to better guide our operators. Finally, I assembled a rollout plan, which was then approved and implemented. All GMs and Field Leaders were trained and system changes documented. With the minimal burden on operations, this timely rollout was called the new standard for large-scale restaurant rollouts. During this process, our IT Support staff was trained to handle tier 1 and 2 support. Tier 3 support remained under me during all phases of testing, implementation, and production. Additionally, this position has allowed me to take on additional projects with breaks and payroll to reduce legal liability and ensure compliance companywide.

Fp&A Analyst

Denver, Co

Collaboratively worked on a FP&A team consisting of twelve business advisers. Our primary tasks included monthly analysis [P&L/G&A], departmental resource management and advising, quarterly financial disclosure, and data analytics/modeling. Majority of my analysis supported our Supply Chain, IT, and Operations departments. Departmentally, I have supported our IT through three years of heavy growth, a complete leadership overhaul, and a fast transition to purely agile development teams. My role put me in the unique position to streamline Inventory and Labor systems in order to enhance our corporate vision. These systems focus on labor scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, and forecasting. They are utilized daily by 10,000+ managers in 1,800+ locations, spanning three concepts and five countries. System development, process improvement, training, and vendor management with our existing solutions were just the beginning of the many challenges. I led an RFI, RFP, and a POC around possible replacements that better fit our culture and long term growth initiatives. Outside of the standard FP&A responsibilities and project management tasks, my dedication towards improving those around me led to a series of developments to improve our operations. Restructuring inventory and labor processes to better optimize the field to reduce back-of-house time and allow teams to focus on the front-of-house tasks of preparing great food and serving our customers. I have deeply enjoyed working in this capacity, as it allows me to work closely with training, communications, operations, accounting, IT, and many other departments that help support our day-to-day success.

Founder

Enveil, Inc

Plano, Il

Launched and lead a startup screen-printing company focusing in custom projects for educational institutions, teams, and communities. Our primary goal and vision was to provide low cost printing solutions through an easy to navigate web interface and low overhead. The long term vision was to establish firm operations through local operations then utilize retained earnings to fund a fashion apparel brand. Our team consisted of a designer, a web designer, and me as a business expert. Our designer had a background in interior design and headed our printing operations. Our web designer worked part time and focused on a user interface that was simple, intuitive, and allowed customers to communicate design ideas without straining our limited staff. My role was a bit more robust. We were established as a C-Corp and all disclosure and filings were under my control. I implemented an open source ERP solution, OpenERP, to handle accounting and resource management. Equipment purchasing, client management, advertising, server configurations, and managing the team members were all areas that required my full time attention. Operationally, all startup funding was internal. Family property was utilized to keep overhead extremely low. Used equipment was reconditioned to reduce costs and provide a sustainable platform. All chemicals were green and environmentally friendly. Apparel and screen-printing supply distributors were within 30 miles. We established a customer base of local sports, colleges, high schools, and ad-hoc clients. We operated for roughly a year, learning the industry, establishing a client base, and honing our skills. Upon losing our designer due to family issues we were faced with a challenge. We decided that instead of searching for another printer/designer we would dissolve the business. This went very smoothly and I pursued other opportunities in Colorado. It was a wonderfully deep learning experience that I am grateful to have been a part of.

Financial Analyst Ii

Chicago, Il

Amongst a team of twelve entry level analysts we analyzed trade sales between three brands: Gatorade, Tropicana, and Quaker. $8M in 2008 and $12M in 2009 relating to US based convenient store promotions were reviewed, analyzed, and rationalized. While this position offered very limited ability for process improvement I still sought to better advance the company any my team. I developed excel macros to streamline processes. Trained my team in these new tools as well as general excel knowledge. Communicating and collaborating with finance, accounting, and sales teams allowed me to excel within this role and assist my team to the fullest. However, I found the lack of opportunities to develop my team, the company, and myself to be limiting, and I left to pursue the prospect of a startup venture.

Apr 2007 - Jul 2010

Training Software Consultant

Aurora, Il

While in college I was presented with the opportunity to implement and manage training software called PeopleSoft. This was for a Blood Center consisting of eighteen centers at the time, two of them being primary distribution centers for hospitals. My focus was on information gathering and system configuration so phlebotomists could be quickly and efficiently trained to industry standards. This was my first experience in a number of key areas: cross departmental training, report presentations, vendor management, and progress reporting. Constant communication between PeopleSoft and Heartland Blood Centers was a vital requirement for success. I was able to finish this project on schedule, taking roughly one year, and the software was rolled out for use among new hires and existing staff.
