Practising private equity for 25 years, I have gained the key competences of this exciting business partnering with French entrepreneurs and 2 renowned brand names of the French market : Astorg and Edmond de Rothschild. As a fund manager, I invested both shareholders' evergreen equity (between 1987 and 1997) and limited partners' funds since 1997. I gained a huge experience in fund raising as I raised more than €500M from 50 private and institutional investors. As a deal maker, I practised the full range of private equity know-how as I completed both minority and majority transactions on the lower end of the French midcap market (Enterprise value between €30M and €200M). My comprehensive experience relies on the completion of 20 transactions (for a total amount invested of €310M), 35 build ups and 8 exits. 2/3 out of these transactions were proprietary deals, demonstrating my ability to generate deal-flow in a very competitive intermediated market. As an investor, I mainly focused my investment strategy on 3 business models : . the healthcare business where growth is driven by innovation and international presence (Moria, Pyxidis, Acteon) ; . high value French brand names able to tap foreign markets (Bonpoint, Christian Liaigre, Béaba) ; . leading companies consolidating their sectors by making acquisitions in mature markets such as B to B services (Pénélope, Via Location, RLD), B to B distribution (Artedist, CTN, Chateaud’eau) or medias (Prat, Mediascience). As a shareholder of my portfolio companies, my governance policy was focused on upgrading management teams, emphasizing innovation, fostering export and making acquisitions.
