Erick Iván Ortiz has experience in youth organization, LGBTI activism, political and cultural advocacy, social entrepreneurship and project management. For the last 10 years has been part of different youth and civil society platforms in El Salvador building civic space and a more democratic governance.In 2015 he was part of the foundation of Colectivo Normal, an organization for the promotion and defense of the Human Rights of the LGBTI population with a focus on cultural change and since 2016 he was its General Coordinator. From there, it has coordinated with other organizations the formation and development of the Salvadoran LGBTI Federation. In February 2021, he ran as the first openly gay candidate to the Congress in El Salvador. He has experience in the dialogue and development of political and social communication strategies, as well as in the articulation with different political-party actors, international cooperation and grassroots organizations.
