With a decade-long journey in online University teaching, I am deeply passionate about my role as an educator. Guiding students in a field that has been the bedrock of my career is an endeavor I value immensely. I currently facilitate doctoral and master’s level human services courses at the University of Arizona Global Campus and macro-focused social work courses in the online modality of Virginia Commonwealth University's MSW program. Additionally, I teach undergraduate human services and social work courses at the University of Phoenix, where I was recognized as one of the Faculty of the Year in 2020.My career in human services began at a small nonprofit AIDS Service Organization, where I evolved from a volunteer to a Ryan White Case Manager, then to LISW Supervisor, and ultimately to the Director of Client Services. My social work career, rooted in the nonprofit sector and spanning over a decade, is wide-ranging and includes case management, community mental health, suicide prevention, intake, and pediatric risk assessment. On the macro-level, I engaged in program development, grant writing, and leadership activities regularly, Volunteering has been a constant in my life as well, often consuming my spare time and spanning continuously since high school. I hold a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Kent State University, a Master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University, and a Doctorate in Human Services from Capella University. I also earned a graduate certificate in Criminal Justice from Walden University. My academic and professional journey reflects my commitment to the field of human services and my dedication to fostering a positive learning environment for my students. My academic interests are diverse, encompassing burnout prevention, volunteer administration, social empathy, altruism, social policy, and community building.
