Eric is the co-founder of Re:Vision, a nationally-renowned nonprofit organization based in the Westwood neighborhood of Denver, CO. Re:Vision cultivates thriving, resilient communities by developing local leaders, growing community food systems, and building a locally-owned economy.Eric founded Re:Vision after graduating from the University of Denver with a degree in Economics and a focus on international development. Re:Vision set out to create a new paradigm for equitable and sustainable community development by developing place-based solutions led by members of the community. Eric started working to empower low-income families in Westwood how to grow food in their own backyard. Adapting a community health worker model from Latin America, Eric developed a Promotora model that trained and employed mothers to become community leaders, advocates, and teachers. Promotoras help families learn how to grow food, eat healthier, and more importantly, inspire community members to reach their full potential. Eric's vision and leadership to focus on building place-based solutions to poverty, inequity, and health and economic disparities resulted in growing the largest community-led food program in the country, and the development of one of the first grocery stores in the country owned by a low-income community, the Westwood Food Cooperative. Eric started Re:Vision with less than $8,000 and grew Re:Vision to a multi-million organization, employing over 26 employees at its peak. Re:Vision is now one of the models for true community-led development, and continues to broaden its impact through the RISE Westwood campus - a community hub for culture, art, food, farming, and economic development.
  • Denver Sustainable Food Policy Council

Supported by his leadership, the Denver SFPC led the passing of the Denver Food Producing Animals Ordinance (2011) and the Denver Residential Sales and Cottage Foods Zoning Ordinance (2014). Eric co-chaired the council for two years, helping to create organizational structure, vision, and operational efficiency amongst the 20+ members, City agencies and staff, and the dozens of community stakeholders. Eric pushed policies and practices that made the SFPC more inclusive to communities of color and those affected by food insecurity.
