Enjoyed multiple bikepacking camping trips, visited with family and reconnected with old friends around the country, hiked to the summit of Mt. Katahdin, survived stage lll colon cancer and chemotherapy, and visited 18 different National Parks, bringing my total now to 45.

- Responsible for developing and leading a team of five engineers and technicians to support day and night shift manufacturing operations along with numerous R&D trials for new products.- Introduced project management and lean six sigma tools along with the DMAIC process to improve manufacturing practices. Championed the Greenbelt certification for each team member in Process Engineering. - Responsible for developing and supporting the Quality and Engineering teams for a new facility designed to manufacture low, medium and high voltage energy cables for the US market. Established and facilitated a culture of continuous improvement and process understanding, and developed a partnership with the local community college to provide six sigma Greenbelt and Blackbelt training and certification for the Engineering and Quality teams.- Created and implemented the architecture and processes to support the facility’s Quality Management System. Developed and introduced numerous new plant quality procedures and processes to ensure the successful ISO 9000 registration within seven months after startup.- Supported the plant's efforts to introduce various new energy cable products, including MV-105, URD and metal clad armored cables to the North American market, each requiring the implementation of new raw materials and developing all new manufacturing and testing capabilities.

Responsible for leading a successful team of eight talented Engineers across three shifts to develop, support and improve manufacturing capabilities of a leading aerospace wire and cable manufacturer. Responsible for overseeing the financial productivity plan as well as R&D Engineering efforts. Supported the Organization as interim Plant Manager for sister facility in Wisconsin.

- Responsible for championing and sustaining the plant-wide continuous improvement program to deliver over $11.0MM in 2009 cost reductions for a steel tube subsea umbilical cable manufacturing plant.- Facilitated and monitored kaizen and DMAIC project teams to drive labor and material usage savings.- Responsible for identifying and selecting areas for additional cost improvement efforts and reporting the financial impacts to corporate management.

- Key facilitator for successfully transforming a traditional electronics wire manufacturer into a world class competitive manufacturer and recognized by Industry Week magazine as a Top 10 Best Plant in 2008.- Project manager responsible for organizing and implementing the full physical cellularization of the plant. Led teams to drive numerous process improvements, reducing overall plant in-process DPMU by 75% and reduced gross waste from 7.4% to 4.6% in the same period.- Organized, coached and developed the Engineering/Quality department consisting of six direct reports to support natural work teams within a physically cellularized environment.- Led the Engineering team to deliver above plan annual productivity improvement gains of $1.6MM in 2006 and $1.9MM in 2007, respectively 3.4% and 6.7% year-over-year reductions in ex-metal COP.- Established the infrastructure to support plant-wide process capability studies to drive root cause analyses and reductions in material usage variation, enabling savings of over $600k annually.- Maintained the Quality Management System for the plant. Served as lead internal auditor, and provided annual surveillance audits to the ISO 9000 standard for other General Cable plants.

- Provided technical engineering counsel to the VP of Manufacturing and the associated Business Team.- Responsible for providing technical leadership and support for seven manufacturing plants in the US and Mexico comprising the Communications Cable manufacturing team of General Cable.- Assisted in establishing the framework for the LeanSigma development and deployment within the company. Provided coaching and mentoring in the DMAIC process to Blackbelts and Greenbelts within each plant. Involved throughout the key phases of project selection, project execution and certification approval after project completion.

- Responsible for performing key roles in engineering the closure of the Cass City, MI plant, and transferring equipment and process knowledge to assist in the expansion of the Jackson, TN plant. This project represented an $11.0MM corporate investment to develop a world class datacom cable manufacturing plant utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles in establishing a 100% cellularized manufacturing operation.- Responsible for determining individual manufacturing cell equipment requirements and selecting specific equipment to maximize throughput potential and work flow balance of each cell.- Key initial priority was to provide process and equipment training to Jackson operators and maintenance technicians. Provided continuous engineering support for the PVC compounding operation, tandem insulating, large pair cabling and jacketing operations.

- Responsible for evaluating plant manufacturing capacity and production constraints with a focus on implementing operational cost reduction measures. Nearly all projects were self initiated, with several aimed at developing corporate-wide Lean Manufacturing initiatives.- Provided key input in establishing a $1.6MM annual capital budget for developing long term growth while also implementing year over year manufacturing cost reductions totaling more than $1.2MM.- Capital projects included rebuilding and installing two high speed tandem insulating lines used for manufacturing category 3 and 5e data communication products, implementing high speed pairing machines with backtwisting payoffs and improving the yield of the facility's PVC compounding equipment.

- Responsible for developing and implementing engineering projects to reduce the building wire manufacturing facility's annual $43.5MM ex-metals operating costs by 6% annually.- Projects focused on economically justifying and installing new equipment, upgrading existing equipment and reducing copper and PVC waste. Improvements in production labor efficiencies were also targeted.- Documented the facility's manufacturing equipment resources and developed master schedule equipment capacity plans to improve general production capacity and resource planning.

- Responsible for organizing and managing several capital equipment projects to meet aggressive installation schedules. Coordinated and directed general contractors and plant maintenance crews.- Projects included installation of category 5e and 6 tandem wire drawing and insulating extrusion lines, fiber optic buffering lines and corrugated armoring equipment for manufacturing data-com cables.

- Worked directly with the Quality Assurance department to successfully obtain ISO 9002 registration.- Performed economic cost analyses and justifications for new capital equipment.- Served frequently as Shift Superintendent. Responsible for organizing and managing the production flow for the entire manufacturing floor. Supervised 35 hourly associates.
