Meredith College is a vibrant institution very rich in traditions that sustain high lifetime Alumnae engagement. This rich culture is reproduced in large part by a very high tempo of events. The main product of the Events Department is the events calendar which includes every room booking across campus not created directly by the registrar for classes. The department manages all of the auditoriums and event spaces, books classrooms and dining rooms, and provides technical staffing. The Events department is a revenue center for Meredith hosting substantial summer camps like Duke TIP and North Carolina Governor's School.I am involved very directly in the deployment of our enterprise calendar system, our financial process and budget performance, and customer service. I often work directly as an audio and video technologist for specific events using tools like QLab, Powerpoint, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Extron and Crestron products, Allen & Heath and Yamaha sound consoles.The executive team at Meredith relies on the Events staff to provide the foundation for our institutional culture and to execute artfully on every slightest detail.

My role at RRS is the continuation of seven prior years of work as a contracting consultant with the company. RRS is a plastics recycling brokerage in Chapel Hill with a staff roster that fluctuates between 8 and 14 employees depending on the market. The company is administered in Chapel Hill, and has warehouse and trucking operations in Haw River NC. All of the systems I administer are SaaS apps including Quickbooks Online, Google Apps for Work, Insightly, Ring Central, Dropbox, and a scale house inventory system I implemented myself using the Django web application framework, which depends on the Python programming language and Postgresql relational database. I prospect and deploy all of the software at RRS.The company began as a Windows based shop, but due to the adoption of a single iPhone around 2009 the shop inexorably became entirely Apple hardware based by 2010. Although I am a full charge bookkeeper, I have distributed many of the AR and AP tasks across the management team. I lead financial meetings and I facilitated a strategic alignment project in 2012.The management team can run the company from anywhere there is cellular service available. I have done payroll from picnic tables while driving cross country. Calls on the main line are taken and transferred from the highway. I have enabled the owner and lead broker for the company to work from his second home in Colorado, where trout fishing can easily be accomplished between deals.

I started work at Windstar Studios as a production coordinator, based on my ability to identify and deploy software, in this case a software solution to replace their paper based scheduling system. Once I accomplished that, I was transferred to a role in post-production, operating the machine room for a five bay edit suite.

Prior work history includes office management positions at Alexander Film and Video, Elliot Barry Company and Transfer Systems, as well as production roles at Colorado Actors Theater and as MCO for the BBN radio network, all in Colorado Springs. Prior freelance career in stage, audio, and motion picture production in NC including role as manager of Duke University Recording Studio from 1988 to 1992. Briefly worked in NYC as a stage lighting technician. First employed as actor, in dinner theatre, 1972.
