Responsible for providing leadership, direction and technical support for engineering and sales team with annual sales of $150M. Implement best practices driven from Howmet Corporate Engineering, and Howmet Research Center. Integrated process management in the wax through cast operations, using SPC tools to drive improved stability. Technical contact for GE, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Siemens, and Alstom. Responsible for process development and coordinating process approvals with customers on new product introduction – provide guidance on alloy and geometry to ensure casting producibility of blades and vanes. Interfaced with customer technical and sales teams for program reviews, support on-going improvements, and strengthen relationships.

Responsible for day to day operations of 150 hourly and salaried employees in the superalloy melting facility, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, production planning, chemistry lab, and maintenance. Internal and external technical contact for plant supplying 10M pounds of vacuum barstock and AOD continuous cast airmelt alloy. Liaison for best practice sharing with sister alloy facility in Exeter, England, as well as Corporate Engineering, Research Center, and Alloy Process Owners in the Casting Plants.

Reported to General Manager with dotted line responsibility to Corporate Quality Director. Directed and support staff of 50 non-exempt and salaried employees, with responsibilities in product quality engineering, quality systems, non-destructive testing, metallurgical lab, and continuous improvement. Responsible for the roll-out and leading the corporate initiative in implementing the Alcoa Business System (ABS) in the plant. Coordinated cross-functional kaizen teams with manufacturing, engineering and quality, focused on improving part quality. Main customer contact for all quality related issues with OEM's such as GE, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Siemens, and Alstom. Responsible for maintaining NADCAP and ISO 9100 accreditation.

Responsible for overseeing the primary melting of precious metals at the Carteret facility. Utilized air induction melting, vacuum induction melting, VAR, and EB melting equipment to melt platinum, palladium, gold, ruthenium, iridium, rhodium, and silver. Developed procedures for EB melting of iridium sponge, for hot rolling into plate. Implemented new continuous cast equipment for gold strip and wire.
