Conducted several projects with professionals from industry utilizing essential mechanical engineering skills. Projects involved significant amount of finite element modeling, including building wood baseball bat models that replicate the durability characteristics observed from experimental testing, and using FEA to determine bat performance and optimize bat design. Research about how FEA and experimental methods are used to evaluate durability of wood bats has been presented in a conference paper and is being submitted in journal papers.

Extensive involvement as a TA in hands-on laboratories involving various aspects of mechanical engineering for undergraduates. Aided students’ understanding of modal testing considerations, spectral analysis, quantification of electrical energy, transducer calibration, and using LVDTs and accelerometers to make measurements. Graded student lab reports on each of these topics. Conducted hands-on labs instructing students about how to use Pro-E to build CAD models, create assemblies, and create engineering drawings.

Assisted graduate students in research projects which focused on modal analysis of aluminum and composite baseball bats. Ran NCAA bat certification tests which ensured that aluminum and composite bats out on the market were compliant with NCAA specifications. Also ran MLB ball compliance tests to ensure that baseballs being supplied to MLB were within standards.
