Maritime career began in 1969 working with Cobelfret ferries. In 1972 he joined the Wallenius Lines agency and was responsible for building the company's forwarding and transport business mainly for Japanese and Korean car imports.In 1989, apart from his Wallenius Lines role, he became managing director of ACPC, the Mazda PDI centre in Antwerp. Two years later, he became also managing director of the Cardic multi-user PDI centre in Antwerp, and in 1998 he became commercial manager for WPS in Zeebrugge.In December 1998 Wallenius Lines founded a Belgian branch and nominated Eric Maurissen as General Manager with the task to start up a company and built a brand new terminal in the port of Zeebrugge. When Wallenius Lines and Wilh. Wilhelmsen merged in July 1999 a new company was formed in Zeebrugge and Eric Maurissen became Region Europe vice president of European Terminals.During the 10 years presence in Zeebrugge the logistics activities expanded with the creation of a forwarding and transport divisionthe development of 3rd party businessthe building of a technical center (PDI) for road building equipmentthe building of a technical center (PDI) for carsIn 2002 WWL founded the Belgian company WWL Zeebrugge NV and Eric Maurissen became managing director, a title which he kept till March 2009. Eric Maurissen also acts as terminal consultant for the group (Eukor and WWL) and assists ECG in shipping, terminals and technical services matters.He is a mathematics graduate from Antwerp University.
