As Lead Software Engineer on the Environmental Data Services Project at RPS ASA, I led a small team in designing, developing, and maintaining software primarily written in C#. My work significantly enhanced the United States Coast Guard's search and rescue efforts. I developed and maintained a data harvesting and normalization service that handled hundreds of gigabytes of data daily from disparate sources, consolidating it into a unified platform. Additionally, I developed and maintained a REST API for client data access, and a web client for easy viewing and inspection of this data. - As the Lead Developer and Project Manager for the Environmental Data Server (EDS) project, I spearheaded most architectural decisions, contributed actively to new features and bug fixes, and coordinated with a team of 1-3 other developers. I also maintained physical and AWS production servers for clients across the USA, Spain, and Australia. - I designed and developed EDS REST services primarily in C# and some Java. These services, leveraging SQL Server, Microsoft Message Queues, etc., processed large data requests, sometimes reaching gigabytes in size. They were used across numerous projects for accessing real-time and historical oceanographic data. - I designed and developed a front-end client, inspired by windy.tv, that retrieved data from the EDS REST services in JSON format. Using Bootstrap, JQuery, Leaflet, .NET Core, and an open-source JavaScript library, I rendered wind and current data on an interactive map.- I built an online web portal to enable remote maintenance and troubleshooting of EDS services. This portal also provided clients with system monitoring capabilities and access to various data products.- I instituted a robust continuous integration system using Octopus.- As a project lead and part-time contributor on the open-source IOOS Catalog project, I worked with various technologies such as Python, Docker, Meteor, and more.

As a Software Engineer on the Zumwalt Total Ship Computing Environment Infrastructure (TSCEI) project at Raytheon, I designed, developed, tested, and maintained services in both Java and C++. My contributions included maintaining and improving a time synchronization module for various services, and collaboratively porting TSCEI's navigational services from Java to C++ to tackle performance issues. Additionally, I developed a standalone C++ library for consuming particular GPS navigational messages and implemented a Java-based enhancement to the hardware monitoring service, which enabled reporting of hard disk failures.
