I earned my PhD in Systems Engineering, an interdisciplinary program within Civil/Environmental Engineering, and MS in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. I was a member of the Energy, Controls, and Applications Lab (eCAL) and focused on the development of algorithms for monitoring and controlling energy use in buildings (see Experience and Publications).

Graduate Student ResearcherUc Berkeley Aug 2013 - May 2017Berkeley, Ca, UsEnergy, Controls, and Applications Lab (eCAL)• Researched the distributed optimization of thermostatically controlled loads (i.e. air-conditioners, refrigerators, etc.) to perform ancillary power system services such as load/generation following. • Designed and fabricated a prototype thermostat that is capable of recursively learning a model of a home heating system and implementing a predictive control algorithm.• Prototyped a smart refrigerator by modifying a 100W mini-fridge.• Researched the optimal charging/management of a residential PV and battery system.
