I am currently a Junior at the Colorado School of Mines, Majoring in Mining Engineering and Minoring in Explosives Engineering. I am involved in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, of which I am the President, and I am a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration, also known as SME. During the Summer of 2023 I had the opportunity to work as an Engineering Intern at the Rochester Silver and Gold Mine operated by Coeur Mining Inc. During this internship, I had the opportunity to gain experience in surface mine design, using Deswik CAD and AutoCAD to design leach pads, drill patterns, and create and update topographic maps. I also was able to work with blasters from Wesco and gain experience in the safe use of explosives for mining purposes. During the Summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to intern at Freeport McMoran's Sierrita Mine as a Mining Engineer Intern specializing in Drill and Blast. During this internship I further developed my skills in Blasting Operations, blast design, blast scheduling, loading techniques, MS3D, and Excel. I also was able to work alongside the powder crew from Southwest Energy and gain additional hands-on experience with priming, loading, pre logging, stemming, tying in, and shot clearing. This experience was invaluable to my progression as a Mine Engineer. I am well versed in the use of MineSite 3D, Deswik CAD, AutoCAD, and Excel. Programs that are widely used in the mining industry. I also possess great communication, leadership, empathy, and design skills, all of which I believe are crucial to be a successful mine engineer.
