The relationships that forged during our voyage are the kind of thing that can only be made through traveling. While traveling through the countries, we were able to experience firsthand many different cultures, lifestyles, income levels, standards of hygiene, religions, and climates. The majority of the destinations were Third World Countries which allowed us to see that there are many other crises and conflicts going on outside of what the media reports on a daily basis. The outcome of the experience made me a very accepting and open-minded person towards all people, and has made me capable of relating to anyone. I would like to think of this as my number one strength.Beginning in the 1960s, the program has had major religious leaders, national presidents, prime ministers, and CEOs of some of the largest firms on earth as regular guest speakers. We had Archbishop Desmund Tutu on our voyage, as well as the Pencils of Promise founder, Adam Braun. Many of the alumni go on to make positive and very influential non-profit organizations to benefit some of the communities we travelled through.
