Police ConstableCumbria Constabulary Jan 1979 - Jan 1985After sixth from college I was recruited as a Police Constable by the Cumbria Constabulary and worked in the West Cumbrian communities of Whitehaven, Egremont and Cleator Moor. During my time in the force I was involved in dealing with a variety of incidents including public disorder, assaults, burglaries, criminal damage, murder investigations and rape incidents. My main role however was in community style policing around the town of Cleator Moor where I cut my teeth in dealing with some tough situations and even tougher people. In addition I was briefly seconded to CID where I worked on a number of criminal investigations.
