About Eric Palmer
I am an Engineer in Training with a wide range of skill sets. My last two positions were with the Peace Corps and most recently with AmeriCorps. While in Namibia with the Peace Corps, I instructed mathematics in an elementary school setting, teaching classes of up to 45 students. While navigating a cross cultural dynamic, I became quite adaptable and learned many lessons in patience, persistence, and hard work. Most recently, I finished a term of service with the non profit Common Threads in Bellingham, WA. Not only did I deliver a message of health and instruct cooking and gardening lessons, but I also strengthened my connection with the soil, plants, and nature. I would like to be a steward for the Earth and utilize my skills to the fullest in whatever opportunity arises next.Formerly, I was employed by AECOM as a coastal engineer. My role was primarily in the realm of coastal floodplain mapping and modeling but also included GIS dataset processing and working with living shorelines projects. I enjoy field work, am self reliant, but always love to collaborate on a team. I have a passion for learning and always find joy in a new challenge.I graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Ocean Engineering. Driven by my love of the ocean, I have taken part in research pertaining to coastal erosion and aided with storm assessments after Superstorm Sandy. I held a summer internship position with the Army Corps of Engineers working on the NY/NJ harbor dredging project, and in my senior year, I completed a multidisciplinary project to design a marina.
