At the Hawaii-based investigative site founded by Pierre Omidyar, I wrote and edited award-winning investigations, features, opinions, editorials, columns and political comics. This work included ambitious special projects on the precipitous decline of the middle class and Hawaii's unique role in a renewable energy revolution. As innovations editor, I conceived of and oversaw narrative story hubs consisting of reader-generated accounts as a complement to my traditional deep-dive reports on the cost of living and local identity in the islands. In addition to managerial duties that included honing the publication's focus, look and direction to boost impact, readership and finances, I produced a collection of distinctive audio portraits of prominent politicians. I also edited award-winning special projects dealing with education, immigration, the business of energy energy and the cost of living.
