As primary litigation counsel for the City of Asheville I represent the City in matters ranging from zoning disputes, to Section 1983 suits against law enforcement, to cases over the removal of Confederate monuments. I have represented the City at virtually every level of state and federal courts, including in oral arguments before the North Carolina Supreme Court. I am fortunate to have enjoyed an anomalously high rate of success, as evidenced by published decisions in those cases I have litigated to completion.My commitment to public service extends beyond my work, and I currently serve as a member of the Town Council for the Town of Woodfin, NC. I am similarly active in the philanthropic community, including in my current work as Board Chair for Eliada Homes, a major nonprofit that strives to provide quality mental health services to the most vulnerable youths within WNC.
