I am an alumni from the University of British Columbia and earned my BASc in Chemical Engineering.I am the chemical process EIT at Tree Island Industries. My role provides chemical/process engineering support to implement and improve production equipment and systems to reduce cost, environmental impact, improve safety and increase productivity. This includes analyzing operating problems and process variations, identifying root causes, developing solutions, and leading the implementation of corrective actions.I was a co-op student at Mercer Celgar where I did process investigations through experimental design, helped draft P&IDs, and created "easy-to-read" operator display visuals using ParcView that provided real-time KPIs. I also performed mass and energy balances over the centrifugal cleaning system which I the used to tuned the CCS to decrease the product waste by 40% while maintaing product quality (minimize dirt while maintaining fiber strength). This was projected to create an additional $400,000 a year of revenue with pulp at $900/tonneI was a part of the UBCRocket student design team where I have worked on motor mounting, recovery systems, and our 2019-2021 scientific payload. Each project involved concept generation, drafting engineering drawings, creating simulations, following competition standards, and utilizing the iterative engineering design process. I researched, designed, and manufactured the 2019-2021 payload which was a microbial fuel cell.For seven years, I have been an umpire for the BCBUA, where I have experience handling quick-paced situations that require accurate, rule-based decisions. This career has also allowed for many chances to develop methods to win friends and bring about resolution in face-to-face communication. This career requires careful study of rules and sound judgment in applying the rules appropriately.
