Vice President Of Marketing And InnovationSpacesaver Corporation 2018 - 2019Madison, Wisconsin AreaLeveraging the success we (Marketing) had by modifying the front-end approach to Innovation, was given oversight and responsibility for the entire Innovation initiative. We took a very different approach to the Innovation function - similar to what we had done in Marketing. A much more iterative, agile approach to bringing new product to market. We leveraged Design Thinking to ideate, validate hypotheses and rapidly prototype (paper and physical). We 'beta' launched product to a smaller group of distributors - learning the tweaks needed not only from a product perspective, but also positioning, messaging and pricing. Embraced the concepts of Minimum Viable Products and Validated Learning with our Innovation function. By beta launching we gave our manufacturing and engineering teams time to tweak the design and rectify issues prior to full launch. There are huge gains to be had by having your Marketing and Innovation function closely aligned. - Aligning the ability to gather deep customer insights and apply them iteratively to product and marketing strategies (and tactics) simultaneously can be transformational. -

We built a Sales Development function from scratch - leveraging the the Build, Measure, Learn philosophy. We hired two reps, piloted the program with measured results and then submitted a business case to our parent company to hire 7 more reps. The program was/is highly successful and has dramatically improved the proposal rates of the distributors in the program, with clear resulting incremental revenue.In Marketing we started holding more Design Thinking sessions and driving more of the front-end Innovation process. I briefly took over the Sales function to help transition the organization to a new President. -

We are investing in new technologies (Qlikview) in order to gain deeper insights into customer data, and using those insights to identify potential targets and provide personalized experiences to those prospects.In IT, we continue to try and push the envelope – embracing the cloud and mobility to try and provide more value with fewer resources. We are driving the realization of the benefits of our ERP implementation while leveraging the improved data (BI) to drive business decisions.In 2014, The Director of Partner Development started reporting to me and together we built a system to run a distributor's business. We used Salesforce.com's platform and integrated other apps to create a system that would allow us to help them adopt best practices in Sales (integration with Configura – draw-to-price tool), Marketing, Project Management and Finance. -
