Silicon Energy was a successful, venture back energy management software company for large companies. It grew quickly from its founding to over $20 million in revenues and served top global clients with advanced energy data collection and analysis software. The company also conceived and pioneered one of the first energy curtailment management and Meter Meter Data Management systems, both of which have become new core elements of utility infrastructure world wide. The company was purchased by Itron in 2003.As employee 15, Mr. Miller was responsible for product strategy, product management, sales support, and led their successful entry into the global utilities market, and led the due diligence and integration for 2 acquisitions.

Foresight Energy was an early entrant into the then newly deregulated retail electricity sector. Foresight was a leader in establishing the green retail energy industry, first as a direct retailer and then as a wholesale power trader serving green energy retailers with wholesale energy supplies including customer such as PG&E Energy Services and the Northern California Power Authority. Foresight played a pivotal role in the establishment of green energy power definitions, certification processes, and business models.Mr. Miller co founded the company and served as its first CEO.

Kenetech at the time was the largest developer and manufacturer of wind turbines in the US. Mr. Miller was responsible for all aspects of sales, regulatory affairs, land acquisition, permitting, community affairs, and permitting in the southwestern US and California. He developed and sold a 60 MW project to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, then the largest direct utility owned wind project in the world, he also led an $80 million redevelopment of the core resource area of Palm Springs as well as numerous acquisitions in the California wind energy market. At one time Mr. Miller had over 25 projects comprising 1100MW under active development, with a team of over 30 people. Contributing significantly to the Companies successful IPO. Mr. Miller also played a key role in the development of renewable and energy efficiency policy in California for over a decade.

These included a project manager in the energy consulting group, building advanced forecasting models for long range strategic planning for electric utilities; as assistant project director lead all on site development (real estate permitting, community relations, political affairs) for a $450 million power facility located in Hawaii. The development also required completion of a deepwater harbor and conveyor system, also led by Mr. Miller. The project remains one of the companies most successful projects; and founded an internal start-up division focused on landfill methane recovery projects.
