Think about the costs that a typical 'retail' (like a bank, credit union, or online) lender has to cover:- Brick and Mortar Location (Commercial Lease and Employees)- Sales Executives (401K, bonuses, commissions)- Middle Management- More Middle Management ;-)- Giant Advertising Budgets... especially for online lenders (RocketMortgage spent over $1.2B in Advertising in 2021 as an example)Let me ask you a question. Does Costco advertise? Typically you won't see the low cost provider in a market, in any business category advertise. Thier business grows because word of mouth/ reputation spreads to the point that they typically have access to lower priced products than the competition. Plus, that advertising cost then doesn't have to get passed on to the consumer. Do people shop at Whole Foods? Of course they do. Do people shop at Winco/Food 4 Less/ Grocery Outlet? Of course they do. Do all of these locations sell a 2019 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir? Yup. It's just a function of how much you want to pay for your groceries. Now imagine that all grocery stores provided them same level of service and provided a similar positive shopping experience.
