As a Carhop, my job included a little bit of everything. I had to take orders through the intercom system, prepare drinks and desserts, package food orders, restock the store, and process all forms of payment and provide change when necessary. The most important part of my job was to ensure customer satisfaction and to create a friendly and fun atmosphere through my interaction with customers. I also had to resolve customer complaints at times. This job significantly improved my ability to multi-task and helped me become a better team player.

This position entailed communicating with guests, helping them locate any items in the store, and resolving any complaints or questions that they had. I was also tasked with collection of cash, processing checks and ETF transactions, and learning the manual codes for products that didn't have barcodes. I was also tasked with bagging groceries when we were understaffed. A major part of my role as a cashier was to recommend new store products and to up-sell whenever possible. This job helped me develop my networking and communication skills through the constant interaction with guests. This job also improved my organizational skills because of the importance of a well-maintained cash drawer.
