My role at Joe Fallon Design involves a variety of tasks, but most importantly is lead designer. In this role I consult with potential clients in the homes, listening to their desires for the building project and translating that into a working design and layout, often on the spot using an electronic sketch-pad. I develop these designs into final proposals, liaising with the client at every stage. My role at Eamon O'Boyle and Associates was primarily to help clear a backlog of work, mainly involving fire and disability applications. A specific aspect of my job here was to renew and update the corporate website. This position gave me a chance to use both my architectural training and website experience, and gave me exposure to the specialised field of fire safety and disability certificates, and to a lesser extent, event safety management.My specific roles included:Preparation of CAD drawings Interpretation of on-site survey drawingsPreparation of fire safety certificate, disability certificate, and event layout drawingsPreparation of 'scope of works' for fire safety upgrade worksComplete website upgrade

Since 2011 I have been undertaking a masters by research (MSc) programme at IT Carlow under the ITC Postgraduate Research Scholarship Programme. A slight deviation from my undergraduate in architectural technology, this MSc in renewable heat provision from Miscanthus has allowed me to investigate renewable service provision in the form of renewable heat from solid biomass.Through this study I have been privileged to visit a number of European countries in order to gather data and information as well as disseminate my research at two international conferences, the papers of which have been published in the conference proceedings.
