Technology has always been interesting to me. I remember fondly that in sixth grade I got a Tandy Color Computer 2 for Christmas and started writing Basic out of a book that came with it. I really enjoyed doing that and making menus to select various shapes that would draw on the screen. This planted the idea that I wanted to work with computers for a career.I got that opportunity with my first job that transitioned to tech support where I had a natural tendency to solve problems. This is where I spent my time for the next 15 years. I worked well with my clients, building trust through honesty and empathy. Fast forward 2 years in a new position, I shaped the future of the software I was supporting. This made me realize I want to do more than just work around problems, but provide solutions through coding instead. I made this dream a reality by taking a leap of faith through an intensive coding bootcamp.So much learning happening in a short amount of time. Syntax, Object Oriented Programming, design patterns, Test Driven Development, ASP.Net, SQL, Entity Framework, and more. My demeanor and experience gained through the years of working with clients made me the go-to person to explain difficult concepts in relatable ways to my peers.I have taken the next step in my career and I have proven that I belong in this exciting world of software development. I am now a software engineer for a mid-size company leveraging my background in software support, ability to quickly troubleshoot and work within countless kinds of software. I love continuously growing my skills while leveraging my past experiences.
