After several years as the HR Manager and advancing my education through Purdue University’s M.B.A., more strategic projects were added to my role in Human Resources. I worked with other Directors and Vice Presidents of the company to determine staffing plans, create a total rewards package that provides a competitive advantage, monitor and implement next-generation policies and procedures, lead our company’s COVID-19 response, in addition to other long-term strategic projects.

I was selected to take over this position with my experiences in my CI role in different policies and procedures as well as my work in a job analysis and employee evaluation project when our HR Director pursued another opportunity. In this role, I was the head of Human Resources and was responsible for the implementation of all policies, procedures, total compensation, employee engagement, talent acquisition, among other HR-related areas. Originally asked to fulfil the duties on an interim basis, I was asked to continue in the position permanently due to my success in the position.

Trained by a lean sensei with 20+ years at Toyota’s Georgetown plant, he introduced me to the Toyota Production System and different lean manufacturing techniques. I then adapted TPS as to how it would best fit at Harrison steel and designed a ten-step implementation plan. I trained other employees to be lean subject matter experts in their area, oversaw implementation, and led various kaizen events across the company. I also completed my Six Sigma Blackbelt in a project that identified and reduced throughput and costs associated with a quality defect.

I was responsible for collecting, preparing, reviewing, and analyzing current and future business trends and needs, as well as leading improvement projects and analyzing data to make informed decisions.

Starting as my first job when I was sixteen years old, I loved the customer service aspect and enjoyed helping to create wonderful experiences at events. Originally starting at Purdue University, I continued to work part-time throughout my undergraduate degree at Wabash College as well as continuing to work at special events early on in my professional career. Highlights included serving Presidents of both Wabash College and Purdue University as well as Neil Armstrong and other astronauts.

Traveling all over Indiana, I scheduled visits, interviewed farmers, and gathered produce samples as part of an Ohio State University doctorate research project analyzing produce washing methods throughout the Midwest.

I was the Financial Analyst assigned to track costs associated with all electrical components on the Lincoln MKT prototype vehicle. Working with engineers, we balanced the most cost-efficient way to bring the first ever Lincoln crossover to production.

Working directly under the Dean of Students, I helped analyze student data and identify trends of students in a three-month internship.

Selected to be a RA for my Junior and Senior year of my undergraduate degree, I was able to get to both be a resource to fellow students as well as help ensure their safety.
