EnerSmart is a utility-scale energy storage development company that develops, builds, owns and operates high impact energy projects in attractive nodal locations. Current developments are in the San Diego area.

Responsible for 6 Controllers, 7 power plants and the consolidation of 14 plants and over 50 entities. Led the technical accounting and external audit functions.Accomplishments:* Created structure for construction department and consulted the deal team during the financing of four construction projects between $.6-$1.2b each.* Developed and implemented system of controls on several newly operating plants including controls around inventory, A/P, A/R, debt and contract compliance.* Tracked fixed asset additions during construction and established methodology for ensuring ongoing compliance with fixed asset policy.* Monitored the cash position on a weekly basis for multiple operating and construction sites.* Developed reporting template for analyzing actual versus budgeted construction costs including methodology for approving and tracking change orders.* Created budget template for post-construction operations including a template for capital project evaluation and requests. * Developed cash flow valuation model prior to construction project going commercial and potential sale. * Consulted private equity owner on debt restructure and swap analysis as part of a debt refinancing.* Partnered with lenders, attorneys and ownership group to establish appropriate credit requirements including coverage ratios, funding process, financial reporting and adequacy of security. Each project generally required approx. $30-$70m in security in the form of letters of credit or parent guarantee.* Awarded top employee recognition in 2015 for extraordinary initiative in leading the growing construction business while developing a high performing team.* Instrumental in the build out of the accounting/finance team from approximately 5 professionals and 3 plants to 20 professionals and 20 plants (start-up type environment).* Researched and authored derivative position paper on a relatively new product (“revenue put”) in the financing industry.

Responsible for the financials of a $1.3b business line. Liaison with business line leaders to identify trends in construction, to assess job costing, to evaluate contractual terms with vendors and clients and to adhere to evolving business processes.

Oversaw accounting, consolidation and financial analysis and reporting for four coal plants, three operating service companies and several holding companies. Managed and developed team of one supervisor and two staff accountants. Drafted policy (notably a policy on assets additions considering the various stages of construction from development to completion).

Presented monthly Corporate EBIT and balance sheet analysis to VP/Controller. Coordinated and presented monthly forecast and three year budget to VP/Controller and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. Prepared SEC filings, quarterly press releases and monthly internal financial packages. Researched technical accounting guidance and resolved accounting issues.

Managed the general ledger for four plants and three regional centers. Reported monthly operating results to plant managers and Operations Vice President. Prepared financial statements and assisted auditors on quarterly audit/review engagements. Involved in all financial aspects of project development including project financing, contract administration, cash management and reporting during the 2-year construction period. Six plants reached financial close between 1998 and 2001.Created functional and GAAP-based consolidated presentations to senior management, partners and external parties. Prepared monthly variance analysis as well as quarterly upside/downside projections. Implemented 24-month rolling forecast.
