I have over 30 years of experience conceptualizing, developing, planning, innovating, supervising, and leading conservation projects across several countries in Asia, including Bhutan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Nepal, Malaysia, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. While with WWF, I played key roles in developing regional conservation strategies based on landscape-and basin-scales. I have also led technical teams to assess global climate change impacts on species and ecosystems for climate change-integrated landscape conservation plans and strategies. I also have regional experience in terrestrial and freshwater ecoregion analyses across the Asia-Pacific. Thus, I have a broad familiarity with biodiversity across a larger region, including Oceania, and the threats to future persistence, including from global climate change.I am the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the Environmental Foundation, Ltd, a 37 year-old non-profit organization in Sri Lanka that addresses environmental injustice through mediation, litigation, and research. During my 2 year tenure as Chair, I helped to raise over USD 600,000 in grants as general support and project funding, and to grow the organization. While with EFL, I have also led UNDP-funded projects, including training government spatial planners on integrating biodiversity priorities into development plans, developing landscape and basin scale conservation strategies, and preparing Sri Lanka's 6th National Report to the CBD.I am also advising the Ministry of Finance on implementing projects related to Sri Lanka's Blue-Green economy, and serving on a technical committee of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority to re-wild degraded lands in strategic areas for tourism and biodiversity conservation.
