I work closely with inventors and business leaders to acquire, defend, and leverage intellectual property assets in a wide variety of industries. Whether developing intellectual property for an emerging company or growing an established portfolio, I enjoy counseling clients through the patent and trademark process while carefully tailoring the scope of intellectual property procurement and transactions with the needs of the business. I also advise clients with respect to patentability and freedom to practice opinions in order to provide greater understanding between a product, its marketplace, and the various risks associated with market entry. I actively support the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem and serve as counsel to various small businesses and startups, helping each identify and weigh associated risks through the course of business. Prior to counseling clients with respect to business and intellectual property, I gained firsthand experience in the design and development of physical products as a mechanical development engineer. I particularly enjoy working with complex mechanical products, such as internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and medical devices.
