Note: OptumLabs was the first commercial cloud created for UnitedHealth Group/Optum. • Helped team reach ISO 27001 certification for Mayo Clinic. Note: 1st time in Mayo Clinic’s 150 year history to allow data to be hosted in a cloud based system outside their four walls to be part of OptumLabs• Assisted team with development in international markets by utilizing hosting services from OTC. • Lead team to build out the largest Hadoop cluster (260 nodes) within UnitedHealth Group/Optum thus the business was able to use the cluster to save over $500M in IOI. • Helped team earn the reputation fail fast or succeed quickly and inexpensively for new products that could be adopted by the larger enterprise and taking the risk off those business units.• Brought in new ITSM tool (ServiceNow) to run all operations within OTC. Model worked so well/cost effective the enterprise adopted ServiceNow replacing HP as the incumbent.

This technology lead to new OptumHealth clinic’s built at all UnitedHealth Group and Optum campuses. • Built out the technology stack at all the OptumHealth clinics including telepresence and remote medical devices. • Moved all board documents to automated system using iPad app, this was an R&D initiative which lead to the board of directors accepting the solution and moving from all paper documents to all electronic for all board meetings for a fortune 14 company.

Lead Architect for designing a Life Cycle Management strategy including designing a new decommissioning process. • Lead Architect in server consolidation efforts tying in Virtualization to the Life Cycle Management project.. o Allowed company to push out talks of building a third datacenter giving a cost avoidance of around $200 million, buy reducing the physical server footprint.• Successfully completed a three month long datacenter outage project known as the “Easter Outage”.o Only time of year the Target stores are closed outside of Thanksgiving and Christmas. o Ran the entire project/outage, managing over 150 people from Electricians, Wintel teams, Network teams, Tandem teams, iSeries teams, to Mainframe teams. o Team performed maintenance on over 1380 environments in less than 24 hours, allowing all 1698 stores to open up without issue and no impact to customers. Note: this was the first time the datacenter outage was led by a technical architect.
