I was born and raised in New York, and I have a passion for life. I love exploring nature and new cultures, especially their unique foods. I love skiing in the glades during the winter and sailing during the summers. I have logged about 20k miles at sea in coastal waters. Music has always been a part of my life. I enjoy listening to a variety of music genres. I especially love playing music on the piano.I have always had a real interest in trying to understand how things work. As a child I disassembled and reassembled engines, electronics and other items to understand how they work. As a child I created video games and explored the inner workings of the computer, even dabbled in assembly programming. This interest shows up in sailing, too. Not only do I enjoy being out on the water, but my mind often focuses on the physics of sailing; the forces from the keel & sails, wave patterns, relative wind direction and intensity and how this plays together to optimize sail shape to drive the boat as fast as it will go. I’m a little bit of a nut when it comes to these things.I love technology and talking about it. I spend a lot of time with other tech nerds, often spending days talking about various technologies. I use humor to lighten the mood in these serious conversations and describe myself as the byte that is a bit off.I love working with people. I treat them how I would like to be treated, with respect. Collaborating with a team, especially in technology, is one of my strengths. Each team member is made to feel useful. I find that the team has a higher output when team members collaborate rather than compete and it makes life much more enjoyable.I have a real sense of social responsibility. I volunteer a lot of my time helping people improve their lives through education. I have volunteered during times of disaster to help people rebuild their lives. For instance, I helped in logistics for a thousand volunteers during Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and helped build software for the cleanup from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which managed about thirty thousand volunteers to rebuild/cleanup five thousand homes/structures.I have programming in my blood and understand practical application of computer science in building applications. I’m a quick learner in new technology. I have a variety of technologies under my belt and am willing to learn new ones. Technologies learned so far include: C#, .NET Core, SQL Server, Cosmos, GraphQL, Gherkin, Selenium, unit tests, Angular, TypeScript, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Build/Release Pipelines, ARM Templates, YAML, Git, GitHub
