As a finance professional, the commodity I work in is numbers. Do the debits equal the credits? Did we meet the monthly forecast? Will we make the year-end budget? Are our cost reduction efforts on track? The answer to these questions and more, are in the numbers – and we all know that numbers don’t lie. However, numbers contain so much more, and the part I enjoy most is discovering the “story” within the numbers – what are the numbers trying to tell us? When you can use numbers to understand what’s taking place within a business, project, or event that’s impacting results, then you’re positioned to make a difference. I consider myself analytical in nature, approaching assignments and challenges with an inquisitive mindset, looking to make a difference. My experience has taught me that finance is more than just numbers, and it’s looking to understand the story that drives me.
