Collins & Aikman, Skara, is a manufacture of Automotive Interior & Exterior systems and components.As Measuring and Testing Engineer I was involved in several customer projects where my job was to verify and validate that new parts fulfilled the customer drawing and technical requirements. I also participated in a design development project to learn how the structure of inner pillar trim in cars should be designed to best absorb the impact energy at a car crash. My roll was to test different designs, calculate crash values and to draw conclusions. It resulted in a design patent and was used in new products. It was first used in Saab 9-3.(The company's name has changed to International Automotive Components Group Europe)
