I started my first career with the Marine Corps at 17 years old.Along with military training, I recieved an education on repair and maintenance of ground support equipment.I used the 10 years of my military career to sharpen both my technical knowledge and leadership skills ending as the WC supervisor for my unit.I also participated in OEF and OIF, during this time I learned to manage both equipment and people in a high stress low reward enviornment.This brings us to Altec, I seperated from the Marine Corps in 2007 and attended another type of basic training in Saint Joseph, MO. Once I completed this training it was back to Hawaii to continue in a like type industry traveling the islands and repairing utility equipment.After a few years in Hawaii (7 in total) it was time to get back to the mainland. I transferred to a mobile service tech position in Oklahoma. During this time I was awarded top wrench, the highest award for an Altec technician.Once I had a little experience under my belt the opportunity arose to take a mobile service supervisor position for the Texas/Oklahoma territory based out of St. Joseph, MO.Once I relocated, many opportunities presented themselves during my time there. From trainer to being part of the Time Warner team. I had the opportunity to travel to many location during some of our IT upgrades for technicians and teach them home to use our new systems.Eventually there was a need for a supervisor in the Chicago area to try and build the territory. I was able to increase our footprint enough to warrant purchasing a facility and open a new service center for the Chicago area.Once the location was purchased I was able to transistion to the service manager of the facility. We have since grown to a crew of 9 at the service center looking for a 10th since 2016.Altec is a very rewarding career, the structure of the company has allowed for my many travels and changes of positions, each time giving me to opportunity to try something different and grow as a leader.
