About Erika Fix

I am an experienced teacher with fourteen years in the classroom. My educational backgound includes a Northern Michigan undergraduate degree in teaching with majors in political science and social studies as well as a Master of Arts in Education degree from Michigan State University with a focus on literacy. In my years of teachering I have organized and advised numerous extracurricular groups including Quiz Bowl, Art Club, and Michigan Youth in Government. I have successful grant writing experience with Family Economics and Financial Education and the Central Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Regional Commission (CUPPAD).My current projects include expanding connections between the financial and educational worlds to promote youth financial literacy programs and building a website to be used by parents, students, and fellow teachers.
