A high school student, a WPI undergraduate, and one WPI graduate collaborate to invent a new environmental-friendly rechargeable glove. This involved research into scientific journals about the environmental-friendliness of current rechargeable heat packs, including the materials used in both batteries and battery-alternatives. This project focused on SMART materials instead of batteries, which are difficult to dispose of. Similarly, research into other hand gloves and their current user feedback. Analyzing the different material through numerous feasibility studies, the project successively described the usability of sorbents in gloves and designed a prototype. This apprenticeship concluded by presenting our project to those leading and undergoing the program.
